That said, there are still a few caveats that you need to be aware of. In the next few sections, we\u2019ll take a closer look at <a href=\"#creating\">creating<\/a>, <a href=\"#inserting\">inserting<\/a>, <a href=\"#editing\">editing<\/a>, <a href=\"#managing\">managing<\/a>, <a href=\"#importing\">importing<\/a>, and <a href=\"#exporting\">exporting<\/a> reusable blocks.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h3 id=\"creating\">Creating a Reusable Block<\/h3>\n<p>You can mark any block as reusable. You are free to select an entire block pattern or any arbitrary group of blocks and set it as reusable.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h3 id=\"inserting\">Inserting a Reusable Block<\/h3>\n<p>Next, we\u2019ll take a look at inserting reusable blocks in your document. To insert a reusable block, open the <a href=\"\/wordpress-tutorials\/wordpress-block-library\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Block Library<\/a> and switch to the <em>Reusable<\/em> tab. Then, drag your desired block out of the Reusable tab and drop it in your document. Then, open the Block Library and simply click on your desired block.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>There\u2019s also a <a href=\"\/wordpress-tutorials\/gutenberg-keyboard-shortcuts\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Gutenberg keyboard shortcut<\/a> that will allow you to use reusable blocks quickly and efficiently. Start with an empty paragraph block and then type <code>\/<\/code> followed by the name of your reusable block. In this section, we\u2019ll show you how to edit reusable blocks in WordPress.<\/p>\n<p>The first way is to edit the contents of a reusable block that you have already inserted in your document. To perform this type of edit, follow the steps below:<\/p>\n<ol>\n<li><strong><a href=\"#inserting\">Insert a reusable block<\/a><\/strong> in your document.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Click<\/strong> on the reusable block within your document.<\/li>\n<li>Make your changes.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<figure><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/12\/wordpress-reusable-blocks-4.webp\" alt=\"You can edit a reusable block that\u2019s in your document by clicking on it.\" \/><figcaption>You can edit a reusable block that\u2019s in your document by clicking on it.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<blockquote class=\"red\"><p><strong>Important:<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>When you edit a reusable block, those changes will be applied to all existing instances of that reusable block across all of your documents. This includes both published and unpublished pages, posts, and widgets.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>The other way to edit reusable blocks in Gutenberg is via the <em>Reusable Blocks Manager<\/em>. To access this section, follow the steps below:<\/p>\n<ol>\n<li>Open the <strong>Reusable tab<\/strong> in the <a href=\"\/wordpress-tutorials\/wordpress-block-library\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Block Library<\/a>.<\/li>\n<li>Click on the link titled <strong>Manage Reusable blocks<\/strong>.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<blockquote class=\"yellow\"><p><strong>Warning:<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>You will leave Gutenberg after clicking on the <em>Manage Reusable blocks<\/em> link. So, make sure to save any unsaved changes before clicking on that link!<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<figure><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/12\/wordpress-reusable-blocks-5.webp\" alt=\"The link that allows you to access the Reusable Blocks Manager is located in the Block Library.\" \/><figcaption>The link that allows you to access the Reusable Blocks Manager is located in the Block Library.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<blockquote class=\"green\"><p><strong>Tip:<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>You can also access the Reusable Blocks Manager by clicking on the three-dot button at the end of the <a href=\"\/wordpress-tutorials\/wordpress-block-editor-interface\/#top-toolbar\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Top Toolbar<\/a> and choosing the option <em>Manage Reusable blocks<\/em> from the dropdown menu. Alternatively, you can go to the following address: <code>your-website-domain.com\/wp-admin\/edit.php?post_type=wp_block<\/code>.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>The Reusable Blocks Manager lays out all of your reusable blocks in the same way WordPress would list all of your pages or posts. To edit a reusable block, hover your mouse cursor over it and choose the <em>Edit<\/em> option.<\/p>\n<figure><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/12\/wordpress-reusable-blocks-6.webp\" alt=\"The WordPress Reusable Blocks Manager has the same design as the Posts and Pages sections.\" \/><figcaption>The WordPress Reusable Blocks Manager has the same design as the Posts and Pages sections.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>The Edit option will take you back to Gutenberg, however this time the entire editing experience will be centered on the reusable block itself. The title field will contain the title of the reusable block and the document body will show all content stored in the reusable block.<\/p>\n<figure><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/12\/wordpress-reusable-blocks-7.webp\" alt=\"WordPress uses Gutenberg for the editing of reusable blocks.\" \/><figcaption>WordPress uses Gutenberg for the editing of reusable blocks.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>Here, you are free to use the WordPress Block Editor to customize the reusable block. Once you are happy with the results, press the <em>Update<\/em> button.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h3 id=\"managing\">Managing a Reusable Block<\/h3>\n<p>WordPress allows you to manage reusable blocks in a way similar to managing posts and pages.
